How did you think people would react when you fired the government’s most talented designers and engineers from 18f and the United States Digital Service and then tried to roll out this shit?

Are you actually fucking with us?

Did you know that the people you fired have been making tremendous, quantifiable improvements to government services? When you asked when was the last time someone’s experience with the government exceeded expectations, did you even know that the public gave Direct File a higher Net Promoter Score than Apple?

Why did you even mention filing taxes? Do you remember that you were killing Direct File? Do you remember campaigning on that?

Did you think we’d be so in awe of the American flag video background that we wouldn’t care that any of the text is impossible to read?

Did you know video backgrounds also stopped being cool like 10 years ago?

Do you know that beautiful design is more than graphics? That it must also be usable, clear, and accessible?

How did you manage to fail so epically at making the most basic website?

How can the American people trust this initiative with any critical system?

Do your people even know basic HTML? Why is every single word wrapped in two spans? What’s up with the inline styles? Did you know that you can use CSS to make text uppercase?

Why does it look like someone’s first coding project?

Have you heard of Section 508? Have you heard of the Americans with Disabilities Act? Why can’t you use even a basic heading? Did you bother to check the contrast? Did you know that user experience applies to assistive technology?

Do you know how many Veterans use assistive technology because of their service-related disabilities?

What’s up with all the weird dear leader language?

Did you even bother to use a content designer? Do you not know how to use apostrophes?

Why do you keep talking about Nixon and going bigger than Nixon? Do you know the first thing people think about when they think of Nixon?

Why are you talking about touching every American? Do you know we see through your Epstein cover-up? Are you going to touch us whether we want it or not?

How should we pronounce the acronym for National Design Studio (NDS)? Is it nads?

Why the hell did you add a copyright? Didn’t our tax dollars already pay for this?

Why is the alt text “America First Legal logo” for the America By Design logo?

What kind of people are going to sign up for this when your administration has been so hostile to kind, caring, empathetic individuals who are equipped to do this work?

If this rollout is any indication of how this project will go, how much is it going to cost taxpayers to fix the damage?
